Liberty Trophy Report on Saturday 13th January at Isca IBC:-

In the quarter finals Devon lost to Wiltshire 108-126. Devon`s preparations were not helped by four players withdrawing from the original selected team, which meant three rinks needed to be changed. Devon made a good start and at 5 ends where 30-22 in front but Wiltshire showed their determination to lead at 10 ends 53-60. There was not much change at 15 ends (80-86) and at 18 ends still the same difference (98-104), but the 19th end proved decisive with Wiltshire scoring 14 shots to Devon`s 3 and so closing out the match.

A disappointing end to this years campaign, as this is a game Devon could have and perhaps should have won!

Under-25s just edged out in inter-County Double-Rink National-Final

On Sunday 25 March Devon played Yorkshire in the Under 25 Inter County
Double Rink at Melton Mowbray.

Although overall Devon were not at their best they nevertheless showed
dogged determination in pushing Yorkshire to the last end of the game
before eventually losing the match 39-42. This was the third consecutive
year that the Under 25's have reached the National Final and it would be
remiss not to take this opportunity to congratulate them on such a
fantastic achievement albeit this year we have finished runners up.

Under-25s reach inter-County Double-Rink National-Final for third year running

On Sunday 11 March Devon played Essex in the semi-finals of the Under
25 Inter County. From the outset this had all the makings of a very
closely contested game. Throughout the game the lead moved from one side
to the other.

In what can only best be described as a nail biting finale with one of
our rinks having finished we were one shot down; however the remaining
rink held its nerve and Devon eventually came out on top winning 42-41.

Devon have now reached the final and will play Yorkshire on the 25 March
2018 at Melton Mowbray starting at 1.30pm. This is the third consecutive
year Devon have reached the final and hopefully this will be the third
consecutive time they will win the National trophy. Good luck.

Over-60s Inter-County: Devon bow out at semi-final stage after excellent campaign

Devon played Surrey on the 20 February in the Over 60 Inter County Semi-Final at The Dolphin, Poole. The game on 4 rinks was extremely close but unfortunately 2 Devon rinks had little going in their favour which sadly meant Devon lost 102-122. Individual rink scores: Duncan Summers 12-30 (v C.Cranham), Allan Thomas 18-18 (v S.Fortesque), Kevin Phillips 19-17 (v J.Sussex), Mike Avent 28-13 (v Binns), Glyn Lawrence 15-17 (v M.Tuck), Bill Davis 10-27 (v I.Ross).

The Selectors would like to take the opportunity to thank all the players who played in this year's competition for their tremendous effort and hopefully Devon will reach the final in the not too distant future.

forward with Devon  leading for most of the match and eventually winning

Devon will now play Essex in the semi-final  and this will be played at
Bannister Park on Sunday 11 March starting at 11.30am.

This is the third occasion on which this fixture has taken place, this time with the Colts playing under their new name.

It was again a very close match resulting in a win for the President, the President winning on two rinks by a small margin and losing on one rink.

The Colts bowled extremely well and are force to be reckoned with. The match was played in a good spirit, and was enjoyed by all with lots of banter.

It is the President's wish that future Presidents will continue with this fixture for many years to come.
